Urban Design should create a sense of comfort and safety for the resident and visitor. It can remind us of nature at its wildest – its canyons, valleys and streams while it functions to turn the wheels of business, commerce and everyday city life. American cities, unlike in the developing world, are largely built. Our challenge is to reinvigorate our urban areas in ways that are energy efficient, sustainable, diverse and supportive of local economies and people.
