SC wrote the master plan for the Allegheny Highlands Trail as part of an “interstate trail highway” that will connect Pittsburgh to Washington, DC. The plan described $7.6 million in improvements for bridges, tunnels, and a former train station along 42 miles of trail. SC helped Somerset County to secure grant funding and assisted on the design team for the rehabilitation of the 1,110-foot Salisbury Viaduct trail bridge in Meyersdale, PA.


Northwest Lancaster County River Trail, Pennsylvania
The SC master plan for the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail links five municipalities along fourteen miles of the Susquehanna River.

Montgomery County Greenway Stewardship Study, Pennsylvania

The Montgomery County Greenway Stewardship Study of 2002 created a broad community vision for forty-two miles along the Schuylkill River. SC worked with the sixteen riverfront municipalities to craft the plan for economic development and open space protection in the suburban and village communities along the river. “Greenway as Community” became the theme for the vision, where work, play, and living areas become harmoniously intertwined.

Pinchot Greenway Feasibility Study, Milford, Pennsylvania


The Pinchot Greenway Trail is being planned to link the northern end of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area to the historic headquarters of the USDA Forest Service at Grey Towers in Milford, Pennsylvania. Eventually, the 30-mile McDade Trail that is being developed by the National Park Service along the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River will connect to the Pinchot Greenway and local residents and visitors will be able to enter the National Park area without using a motor vehicle.
Feasibility Study for Lower Chartiers Creek Greenway and Trail, Washington and Allegheny Counties, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
The Chartiers Creek Greenway is a 19-mile stream corridor that extends from Pittsburgh near McKees Rocks south into Washington County. SC served on a multi-disciplinary team commissioned by the Chartiers Nature Conservancy to prepare a greenway trail master plan that identified potential rail-to-trail and on-road pedestrian and bike routes through heavily developed urban areas and residential neighborhoods.
